On July 15, 2015, Amazon launched their very first Prime Day: a global shopping event offering more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members. New and existing members shopped Deals of the Day, and thousands of Lightning Deals starting as often as every 10 minutes.
Social media and the blogosphere were a-buzz about #PrimeDay on July 15…with less than impressed feedback. Despite customers’ cynicism, Amazon announced that Prime Day was bigger than Black Friday, and will be held again.
In our most popular course, Amazing Selling Machine, we teach students how to build a business by selling physical products on Amazon. We knew our students would be impacted by Prime Day…we just didn’t know how well, until now!
The day after Prime Day, we asked our students to complete a survey letting us know how the event affected their sales. Here were the results:
Over 90% reported sales were higher than usual.
5% reported their sales remained the same.
5% reported sales were slower than usual.
45% reported their sales increased by over 200% (!)
30% reported an increase of 50-200%.

Even more telling than the survey is the data we gathered from our ActiveLoop users. ActiveLoop is our proprietary software that allows our members who sell on Amazon to communicate with their customers.
The infographic below shows the amazing results our members had. Not only were Prime Day and post-Prime Day the two highest order volume days on record, but there were 203% more sales on Prime Day than the highest sales day in ActiveLoop history!
WOW! Overall, we would say Prime Day was a huge success for our students. We can’t wait to see what happens on Prime Day 2!
