This is what really pisses me off is when our governors or whatnot weren't born in the US.They get in office and then try to make rules like there countries. I think in order to be in politics you should be born and raised here in the states.

Here in Michigan we have governor Granholm. She's a Canadian. She's trying to take a lot of rights away.As tax payers we have to fight tooth and nail to keep things to a happy medium.A lot of us are feeling as though she's trying to make us like a communist country.Where is our freedom, we're loosing it to someone like her.

What kinds of rights is she trying to take away?
I seem to remember Governor Granholm is quite well liked by many on the left.
Look at the good side: She can't legally become President.

Look what Governor Granholm is doing now. We have a state shutdown.A lot of the state workers was asked not to show up for work on Monday. The state of Michigan had 7 months to make a budget and what did they do, they waited until the last minute.Granholm seems to want it her way and only her way.She needs to be out of here.So far some of my family members are safe because they're way up in the prison system or they're in the medical field.Granholm thinks that if we elinimate some of the things in our state that we'll save money but what happens when thousands of people looses there jobs and has to depend on public assistance. Are we really going to be saving.Someone please put there input on this subject. This is really maddening.

I suspect the problem is that Michigan is a state that's been losing jobs and population for a long time. Eventually, the government gets lower tax revenues and can't pay for the same services that existed before.
I have read a couple of articles about this, and it looks like the legislature is mainly at fault for not offering any kind of solution for closing the 1.75 billion budget gap. The governor has proposed a solution but it has not been acted on by the legislature, so it can't be put into action.
The Governor did not create the budget gap - it's likely that the situation had been brewing for some time. I know the state of Michigan has been losing jobs and population for some time, and that means lower tax revenues. Eventually this means the government has to spend less, but it's very difficult for government leaders to make the tough decisions of what needs to be shut down and what can stay.
From the point of view of a citizen who works for the government, this is dismal news since you're falling between the cracks. Worse, your job might be in danger depending on how they are planning to close the gap.
I personally would probably move because I just plain don't like the cold weather and static economy associated with states like Michigan.
But if you have a government job and want to rely on it you're probably better off there than you are in most places, unless you are actually laid off. Generally, the more static and inflexible your economy is, the better off you are as a state worker. In the more affluent parts of California, a teacher's salary won't even rent you a studio apartment. To own any kind of decent home in Los Angeles, you need two average incomes or one income in the top 10%.
So in a sense you may want to relax and enjoy your time off. Consider a hobby. In a week or two this should all be over, and you'll be back to work with an unpaid vacation - but at least it's a vacation! - under your belt.
Hope that helps.

I haven't lost my job yet, (I work for the county) but when October comes I have to get a new sticker for my vehicle since the Sec. of State is closed then what do I do. Do I drive illegal and hope I don't get caught or do I call into work and tell them I have no transportation. According to the news they claim we should be able to get it over the internet but thats not into effect yet.Are we going to get fines if we drive or what.
